Pictou Pipe Fabrication and Module Assembly Facility

General Description:

• Modern and includes large fabrication shops 
• Extensive strengthened lay-down areas 
• Originally designed for the construction of vessels up to 3000 tonnes.  

Location:

• Located on the North West coast of Nova Scotia near New Glasgow on the Nothumberland Straight.

Types of Work:

• Ideally suited for the fabrication of large steel structures such as accommodation blocks, pipe racks and equipment modules
• Shops can be laid out in a variety of configurations
• Currently producing pipe spools in Carbon and Stainless Steel.

Pictou Shops:

• Large, heated and fully insulated
• Main bay is 340 ft X 80 ft with level reinforced floor and large sliding doors
• Second bay  225ft x 40 ft
• Convenient access to the lay-down area
• Shops equipped with
  o Plasma Burning tables,
  o Plate Rolls and
  o Press breaks
  o Ventilation
  o Distributed Power
  o Offices and workshops

Pictou Lay-down Areas:

• 18 acres of lay-down area for final erection and preparation for shipping by barge. 

Pictou Cranes and Transporters:

• Fabrication shops are serviced by 4 x 20 ton and 1 x 45 ton gantry cranes
• Clearance below crane hooks is 40 ft.
• Additional heavy lift cranes and transporters are available on a contract basis as required

Pictou Wharfs and Sea Access: 

• 300 ft concrete wharf with a 25 ft apron
• Water depth is 25 ft dredgeable to 30 ft at the wharf
